What I learned In my Digitial Portfolio Class

To be honest, when I took this Digital Portfolio class I didn't think I was going to learn much as I did and thought it was going to be interesting because it's about digital storytelling. I'm a computer science and info systems major so when I heard the "digital" part in the class, I thought it would be an interesting and fun class to take. I assumed like other online classes, we would just do homework on blackboard responding to forums, reading the chapters, and doing projects. But I was so wrong when the first week of class started, we had to make an account and use Schoology for this class and do all of our assignments on there. I loved using Schoology as it was super simple to navigate and easy to use compared to blackboard. Every chapter I read in this course, I learned a new tool I can use for my major and use it to my advantage for work or school related things. I have heard of LinkedIn and never used it or made one until this class as one of the assignments were to create one and edit it. I'm so glad I did make a LinkedIn because it's super beneficial for me as college student to find potential companies or individuals I can connect and interact with for my major. The next thing I learned was how to create a blog and be a blogger. I thought this was very interesting and unique way to showcase homework posts for the class. I admit, I'm a shy individual so when it was time to do the digital presentations to the class, I was a bit nervous. I was able to conquer my shyness and do the video presentations with ease because of the tools provided to me. I learned how to screen cast and record your voice and video while doing a power point presentation which can be very handy in the future for my major as I process. I liked reading the chapters and learning about all the amazing tools that there is for us to process or use for our future jobs and careers. I also liked how we had to respond to everyone's posts in this class so you got to see everyone's perspective on the assignments and learn about new tools and how you can implement them to your major. Overall, this was a great class and I enjoyed it and will recommend it to peers if they plan on taking an online class in the future!
